Burbia Day 2

The next day we loaded the car up with borrowed boogie boards and our swimmers and headed off to see some Palm Beach (where they film the outside bits of Home and Away). After a nice 45 minute drive we pulled up at the car park for Palm Beach and noticed a lot of activity (trailers, trucks etc) around the area and low and behold they were actually filming, which is quite unusual apparently. Frankly it could have been anyone infront of the camera because I don't watch any soaps but it was good to watch all the same (although I do confess to have recognised Sally). If anyone does watch the programme perhaps you could tell me if there is a black and white dog on it because I spent a while playing with one that seemed to be attached to the filming crew (and looked like it was very well kept).

When we had bored of watching the crew we decided to take a walk up Barrenjoey Head (just a short watch from 'Summer Bay' Surf Life Saving Club - in fact North Palm Beach Surf Life Saving Club) to the lighthouse. It was quite cool and windy at the bottom but as we made our way up Smuggler's Track through the bush it started to get muggy. We reached the light house and then set off back down the other side of the hill. Unfortunately we didn't realise that it was not a circular walk and ended up getting lost in the bush, fighting our way through scrub. It seems that we were not the only ones under this impression as we kept popping out into clearings (with lovely views incidentaly) to see other people looking just as confused before we all went our separate ways into the undergrowth! Eventually we decided to retrace our steps back to the lighthouse and come back down the way we had come.

We made it back down to the car, a bit hot and flustered, and then headed on for a scenic drive around the expensive houses in the area and in neighboring Whale Bay. Not a bad address if you have the odd AUD2+million to spend. We had a nice lunch in a place called Avalon and went back home via Warringah Mall, buying a suitably loud and annoying present for the kids (sorry if they are still playing with it L).

Another very pleasant evening was then spent eating a very nice lasagne, watching Australian Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (which seems harder than ours) and talking.
